Year 4 spent the morning studying bees and their habitats.
First, they had to build dens to represent bees’ nests. They then had to work as a team to arrange garden canes into a hexagonal honeycomb.
Next, they played “The Shrinking Habitat” game using tarpaulin to represent wildflowers, and the children represented the bees. Each time the “wildflower” area was reduced in size less “bees” survived.
Finally, each team had to emulate bees by inventing their own “Waggle Dance” and teaching it to the other teams.
